CAMBRIDGE GET THE BLUES
Result: IC of GB 9  – 3 University of Cambridge (Men)
Event Date: Saturday 31st May 2014

The IC of GB men beat a youthful Cambridge University team 9 – 3 at Fenner’s Sports Ground, Cambridge. The fixture started with doubles at 11am on hard courts (due to rain overnight) with a closely contested first round - the IC managed to win two of the three matches in third set tie-breaks, as well as a straight sets win at third pair.

Once the courts had dried the match switched to grass in the afternoon for singles and another round of doubles. With 4 wins and 2 losses in the singles, the IC team took an unassailable 7 - 2 lead ahead of the final round of doubles before closing out a 9 - 3 victory.

James Spooner was awarded the MVP over dinner for not dropping a set all day and thanks go to Tim Matthewson, a recent Oxford graduate, who made a guest appearance for the IC and put in a strong performance against his former arch rivals.

Rob Blythe, captain of the IC of GB team, said "It's always fantastic to play at Fenners and our thanks go to Cambridge for hosting yet another wonderful fixture."
