09 July 2012 / Categories: Recent Results and Events, 2012 John Barrett interviews Frank Sedgman at the IC Ball The IC Ball took place on Saturday 23 June 2012 at its usual venue, the famous Dorchester Hotel. More than 300 people attended the Ball which marks the beginning of the Championships at Wimbledon. The Chairman, Committee members, ex-Chairmen and ex-Committee members of the All England Club and the President of the Lawn Tennis Association and other officials joined IC of GB members and many other tennis players, officials and their guests including representatives from the ICs of Austria, Switzerland and Spain. Tim Phillips, Captain of the IC of GB, opened the Ball and welcomed the guests. As usual the evening was brilliantly organised by Karen Hunter who took care of everything and ensured that everybody had a splendid evening with fantastic food, good wines and great music. Guests of honour were Frank Sedgman who won the Wimbledon Singles title exactly 60 years ago and Mark Cox who was awarded the IC of GB Sportsmanship Award. John Barrett interviewed Frank Sedgman and related some of Frank’s brilliant career highlights. David Waite, Chairman of the IC of GB handed Mark Cox the IC of GB Sportsmanship Award to which Mark responded (see separate article).
