In the mixed doubles play-off match Genaro Alberto Olivieri and Augustina Zamprogno representing the IC of Argentina got off to a quick start and secured the rubber with a 10-5 tie-break win against the South African pair of Jan Louis Martiz and Lee Barnard. However, the IC of Italy fought back to level the tie by winning both doubles matches in third set tie-breaks. Corrado Summariva and Beatrice Torelli also went on to win the second mixed doubles play-off of the day with a 10-8 win against the British duo of Alexis Canter / Eden Richardson. Although two more matches went the distance, the US team proved too strong and came through with the overall victory to place them at the top of the leader board going into day 4.
