Under 35s v Over 35s

Saturday 22nd April 2017

Result: IC of GB Under 35s 3 – 5 IC of GB Over 35s

Venue: LTA National Tennis Centre

The annual members’ over 35s versus under 35s match took place once again on the indoor hard courts at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton. The match was captained by Philippa Coates (under 35s) and Barry Cowan (over 35s) and provided a debut opportunity for new member Sean Thornley, who remained undefeated on the day.

The match was tied 2-2 after the first round of men’s and ladies doubles. However, the over 35s team claimed three of the four mixed rubbers in the second round of play to claim a 5-3 victory overall.

It was a great match to get the season underway.

Our thanks to the LTA for allowing us to host the fixture at the prestigious National Tennis Centre.

Eugenio Saller

Eugenio Saller

Dear members of the IC community,

It is with great sorrow and sadness that I inform that Eugenio Saller, our former Brazil IC President, and later Honorary President, passed away yesterday at the age of 88.

Eugenio was an excellent tennis player in his youth, and even until recently was seen on the tennis courts of our beloved club in São Paulo. He later became a successful businessman, and actively supported tennis through corporate sponsorships and his own personal time commitment.

Eugenio will be sorely missed by our entire tennis community in Brazil, and specially by our Brazil IC, which he so enthusiastically supported for almost twenty years!
