02 October 2012 / Categories: Recent Results and Events, 2012 IC Golf Tennis Sept 2012 September 21st & 22nd we hosted the quadrangular Golf Tennis fixture at Moor Park. This event sees the IC Clubs of Great Britain, France, Belgium and Italy doing battle in a interesting format with players particpating in Tennis only, Golf only and some players playing both sports. The event this year was slightly upset by the cancellation of the Italian Team at the very last minute, but thanks to the hard work of Boyd Cuthbertson who was on the ground at the Desborough Cup on the Wednesday before the match we were able to cobble together a fourth team to replace the absent Italians. We were blessed with exceptional weather for a grass court match scheduled very late in the season. The courts at Moor Park were in very good condition and the golf courses and the setting for the event were exceptional. In the first days play France took on the replacement team made up of British players and won the match 5 1/2 vs 1 1/2; And in the other match Great Britain won narrowly against the Belgians 4 matches to 3. On Saturday in the final, France beat Great Britain 5 matches to 2 to retain the trophy and Belgium won the third place play off against the replacement team by 5 matches to 2. Gill Waite entertained the WAGs on the Saturday with a trip to Windsor and a special thanks to Brian Hatton and David Waite for their support with the match not only playing but also assisting with transportation and entertaining the visiting teams.
