IC 16&U JUNIOR CHALLENGE

Match Result: IC of GB beat Ireland (5-1), Sweden (5-1) and Slovenia (6-0), but lost to Spain 4-2 in the final.

The IC of GB put in a sterling effort to reach the final of the 16&U IC Junior Challenge in Barcelona. The British team beat Ireland 5-1, Sweden 5-1 and Slovenia to qualify for the final but unfortunately lost to Spain at the last hurdle in an epic match. Jack Molloy, Barnaby Smith, Emily Appleton and Alezandra Hunter can all reflect on a wonderful week in which everyone played incredibly well and represented the IC brilliantly at all times. Jack should be praised for making a speech at the official IC dinner at the Polo Club.

The final itself was a wonderful showcase for the IC. The match was tied at 2-2 after the singles and the doubles started really well with the IC of GB winning the first set in both the boys and girls matches, but the Spanish team clawed their way back to one set all and went on to defend match points before winning both matches in championship tie-breaks 12-10 and 10-6 respectively.
